MAC Haul : Cool Essence collection

This one color in particular caught my attention from this MAC collection. I had to go down to my local MAC counter and see this color in person , but I was certain that it would have to be a part of my collection.

This color in the pan looks like a lime green color but it's so striking!!! I had to have it and after seeing this color in person it's more amazing. I'm not sure that the pictures will do it justice but it's such a gorgeous color. When you apply this color the color is very wearable. I know that sometimes MAC comes up with colors that are not always wearable to the office but this color on the eye can be worn to your office.

The color looks very brilliant on the eye! Any eye color will make your eyes pop. Especially if you line your eyes with a black liner and make sure to have gorgeous thick lashes on!! A great crease color to go with this can be a nude color if you want the eye shadow to be the focus or you can use a more red brown color to add to this. I think that this color will be beautiful well into fall.
Swatched on my hand you can see that the color is very wearable. For the fall I added a beautiful burgundy eyeliner and some false lashes and this really made my eyes look gorgeous.

Here is the best part of this shadow which by the way is called 'Brilliantly Lit", is that it has a very cool sensation. It almost has a liquid consistency but really it's just like a regular eye shadow!!

Great product and color that I can't get enough of. If you are looking for something unique to add to your collection this would be the one to add!!

Nook Simple Touch with Glow Review

So I have been a fan of ereaders for a long time. Initially I thought that it would be difficult to part with 'real' books. I love turning the pages of a book and the smell that books have. I just love books! When amazon came out with the kindle I thought there was no way that I would want that. But somehow I was on the waiting list for one and got my self an e reader. This started a whole new way of reading for me. I could carry around multiple books because the ease of carrying one around was just amazing. For some reason one day I decided I miss real books and sold my kindle on ebay. About two years ago when I was walking through my local barnes and noble there it was again, an e reader.
Barnes and noble had this pretty display with all these colors and a representative that was there, well naturally I was sold! I bought the simple nook touch. I absolutely loved that thing. I was downloading from the library and from barnes and noble. I convinced several people that they needed to buy one as well and they did!! I started lending books and just became obsessed with books even more than I was before!!
Until about a week ago......
We took a trip up to Michigan and I was so excited to lay around all day and catch up on my reading. Enjoy the fresh air. Well when dusk began to approach I realized quickly that the one thing I forgot was my book light!! I was so upset!! So naturally we came back into town and I had to order the nook with the glow light!

I can not rave enough about this product!! It has the most perfect amount of light that shines on my reading so I can read whenever where ever. Was I concerned about battery life? Heck ya I was but Nook has some incredible folks that work there because they figured out how to make the battery life even with the glow on last you about a month!! Why do I feel like this is the superior e reader on the market?
~ It's light weight. I never leave home without it. I always carry it in my purse and fire it up if I'm waiting at the doctors office, on my lunch break, a line at the nail salon, you name it and you can always have your nook. The size is slightly bigger than an adults hand

~ I love the e-ink technology. For those of you who think that you can't do away with books. Well just pick this up at the barnes and noble and you might think twice about it.

~Reading at night is a wonderful experience. I can turn on the glow light and read comfortably. The light weight of this product does not hurt my hand or wrist.

~ Downloading books from the library is one of my favorite parts of owning a nook. I do like to purchase my books, especially on Fridays because there are so many discounted books, but borrowing from the library is almost like an adventure. You may have to be put on a waiting list, but sometimes the anticipation of things is fun. We are so use to getting everything when we want it that having to wait for something feels like a bigger reward in the end!!

In all I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you pick this product up!! If you love to read or are someone who sometimes reads but you don't always remember your books or just forget this will make you fall back in love!!

DIY: A No Sew Tote bag!!!

I needed a new lunch bag and stumbled upon a video on how to make tote bags without sewing. As much as I would like to get better at sewing I still am not great at it. So the video I watched showed me how to make a tote using fabric, staples, and duct tape! Now when I went to the fabric store I was excited to find that they already had little pre-cut 18" x 21" pieces for only $1.99!!! Now they make duck tape in all these great fun colors so I just had a field day with picking out colors and patterns. Then belting is required to make the little handles and with a few staples you will have the following product!!

-
What you are seeing in the above picture is this pretty black and grey small rose pattern on the fabric and on the interior I used little skull and cross bone duck tape!! This was such a fun and easy way to make a cute and personalized tote bag to bring along my lunches to work. I bought a few patterns so I will make a few more for my friends and I will also make a larger tote so that I can use these bags for my groceries!! Yes these bags are sturdy enough that they can carry all your heavy groceries and even heavy books!! Who knew that duct tape was such an amazing thing!!
This was my first stab at this project, I will make another one and post step by step photos of how I made this super cute tote!!

Rainbow Sprinkle Manicure

So I love the caviar nail polish but I didn't actually buy the one that is offered at Sephora. Instead I went to Micheals (craft store) and purchased micro beads from the Martha Stewart collection. There is a large variety of colors to choose from and also you can mix alot of the colors together.
I made my own video on the process which I will link at the bottom of this blog.
Realistically the manicure can only last for a few days because the beads start to fall off. I do apply a clear coat to the tips of the nails to save some of the beads but they do begin to fall off. This manicure is great for special events and if you are tired of the same old manicures. If you choose the inexpensive route and go to your local craft store it's not as expensive and you have SO many more colors to choose from!!

Here is a link to my youtube video on how to achieve this manicure.

Finished Hocus Pocus book of shadows!!

So I blogged a few weeks ago about the book that I was in the process of making. Well I finally finished it!! I'm really really excited with the end product. I was able to get the pages glued in and I also was able to modge podge some content on the pages. I will insert some photos so you can see the finished product!

Here is a side view of the book. I did all the painting by hand.

Here is the front cover of the book. If you look closely yes there is a little eyeball just like in the movie.

Here is a picture with the pages glued in. I also added ribbon as place markers in the book.

And lastly I found some crochet patterns that I really like so I started a chapter in the book on different patterns

Making my own book?!?!

So I love the movie Hocus Pocus. The movie came out in 1993, it stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Bette Midler. It's definitely my favorite Halloween movie and always puts me in the spirit!! I love the story and I just think it's such a great movie. Well I was on etsy.com the other day and I found that someone had made a replica of the Book of Shadows that the witches use in the movie. It's supposedly made out of human skin and it has a little hand on it and snakes and an eyeball!!! So of course I said " I want one!" I began looking up book binding and starting coming up with ways to make my very own! Here is the progress of it. I have been working on it for about a week now! Here is a link to the book in the movie: http://www.google.com/search?q=hocus+pocus+book&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari#biv=i|0;d|L_mQUEGPoNBf9M:

In the photo above I purchased a leather photo album and using terra cotta clay I started to mold the snakes, the eye and the "skin" for the cover. Once the clay is dry I used gorilla glue to glue everything in place.

In the above photo you can see I finished the front and back cover. Total there are 6 snakes the eye, the little hand on the back and the "skin".

Because the book is suppose to look like it is made of skin there has to be stitching involved to I hand stitched scar tissue and stitches using string!

There is an up close look at the stitching!

Sothe project is not yet complete I still have to paint and obviously add the pages. Stay tuned and I will update with my progress!!
